for this handsome man
He goes out, sun rising,
a pole in his hand

He hikes through the timber
to find a small stream
There by the banks
he casts like a dream

Gill can’t help but notice
with each catch to hand
That all the fish look
like the men of the land

Perched there he ponders
What then, am I?
A scaly old fish or a regular guy?

He scratches his head
and removes all his clothes
Dives into the water
with the tip of his nose

I am a fish! He loudly proclaims
and in these green waters
I shall remain

A creature like me
belongs in the creek
Not working and wasting
Week after week
